For years we used to hear bowlers walk out of awards
banquets, murmuring "I should have just donated my money and saved the
expense of travel and time." That was back in the early 90's.
In 1994 for Rose Bowl XI, Portland came up with a fresh idea - a chance to win back your entry fee
if you didn't win any money at the Awards Banquet. Everyone
entered in that very first year and we were able to give back four
entries. For only $1.00 on your entry form, your name is entered
into a drawing to be held at the banquet. If your name is drawn,
and you have not won in any of the Team, Doubles or Singles categories
(does not include Boxer Bowl which is its own separate payout), you win
back your "base" entry fee (exclusive of other items you elected to
join). Portland’s original Pathetic Performance Insurance
Protection program has been able to give back 1 to 3 entry fees per
tournament (depending upon how many insurances have been purchased). However, it is based on how many dollars we collect.
We encourage everyone to enter for only $1.00. We will draw as many rebates as paid premium fees
allow. (Refunds are reimbursed only up to what the bowler has actually
paid. No refunds on free entries.) |
